An optimization approach of cabin framework of a car by using the full finite element model is proposed. The approach requires a single full crash simulation and a calculation of forces loading the car cabin during the crash. An adequate calculation model is developed which allows transforming a nonlinear dynamic crash problem to a linear static problem. The optimization of a cabin structure is performed by linear static methods using the calculated forces.
