Nonlinear optimization problems in engineering design when variables take on integer, discrete and continuous values are considered. The study has been conducted and various methods of nonlinear optimization are estimated quantitatively. An original approach to the restrictions processing is suggested, which does not require complicating the goal function with penalties. The fast convergence and robustness of the approach are shown.
