Principles of construction of optical schemes of compact pancratic objectives are considered and advantages of constant-length schemes are revealed. The original mathematical dependences for calculation of relative position of groups and planes of the object and the image of the two-group zoom system are presented and the domain of solutions for such a scheme is analyzed. Aspects of image quality improvement for the initial optical scheme by means of optimization with the help of OPAL and ZEMAX programs are discussed.
