The image transfer in the dispersive medium is considered for the most common case when the source of the active pulse illumination has a wide directional diagram, but the directed receiver, forming an image element, has a narrow one. Within the framework of small angle approximation some optical relations are obtained to compute the contrast of a small-size object while viewing it against an extensive background in the dispersive medium. It is shown that with the certain correlation between the object size and medium parameters the small-size image contrast increases.
