A problem of reconstruction of gas densities on the basis of laser measurements is considered. A procedure is described for selecting the method to handle results of the measurements using a matrix condition number for the system of gas analysis equations. It is shown that with the low condition number (a few tens and less), the standard methods of solving systems of linear algebraic equations can be used for the system of gas analysis equations. With the large magnitude of the condition number (a few hundreds and more), the methods of solving incorrect mathematical problems must be used.
