Bi-angular Laser Method to Detect Oil Spots on Uneven Sea Surface

A remote laser method to detect oil spots on uneven sea surface is described which uses additional data on the near-sea-surface wind and a special bi-angular geometric scheme to illuminate the surface. The suggested method is shown to make possible the independent monitoring of two effects - smoothing of windy waves and change of reflection factor of the sea surface - and by this making decision on the oil spots availability.
