The laser method of determination of spatial distribution of wind speed and direction in the surface layer of atmosphere is described. It is shown that measuring sizes of aerosol irregularities along the sounding route and changing the size of the gauge length in accordance with the found criterion allows one to improve an accuracy of prompt determination of wind speed by correlation lidars with small gauge length.
