Selection of TEM00 mode in the ArII ion gas laser

The selection of TEM00 mode at L=5145A with the unprecedented radiation power is calculated and experimentally achieved in the ArII ion gas laser. The laser radiation is generated in the superradiation regime in the test gas laser. A large length of the inverse medium and a large real length L of optical resonator are obtained in the laser with the 2-m overall length and slit-like discharge channel in the four-mirror resonator. This made it possible to implement the classical semi-confocal system with the appropriate curvature radius R of the resonator's spherical mirror, with the ratio L/R = 0.5 and the Fresnel number F < 1.
